Website Hacked - But My Web Hosting Company Was Top Notch
I realized late this afternoon that my website was hacked and redirecting to unapproved/unrelated content. Hopefully the company that stood to benefit from the breach received a good deal of value in the handful of visitor referrals created in that time frame.
At any rate, I have to give a quick (unsolicited) plug for my web hosting company - LunarPages Web Hosting - who were able to effectively address and resolve the issue in an incredibly timely manner.
One of the challenges I find with SEO/SEM consulting, is that you often need to become an “expert” in a variety of “things”, because search engine optimization (in my opinion) has become a integral part of a company’s overall online marketing plan. As the SEM industry has evolved, there are search engine marketers who specialize in various areas of the expertise, whether that be link building, social media, or search engine advertising (to name a few). While I am continually trying to improve my capability in the areas that I have strength and interest in, there are just some areas related to an online marketing strategy that I need to delegate out.
One of those things is the web server/hosting environment.
A key reason I chose LunarPages for my website was specifically because of the fact that I could get someone on the phone, if I needed them and they still provided the features and functionality that allow me to work independently as well. While I don’t think that they are the solution for every single situation, the fact that they provide quality customer support, coupled with excellent features, add-ons and technology is what sold me. I would recommend at least checking them out in the evaluation process, if your small business is looking for a new web hosting company - either today, or down the road.
