Miscellaneous Ramblings on a Gorgeous Saturday Morning

The Cape Cod Times is calling for clear skies, sun and a high of 70 degrees on what I hope will be a relatively uneventful weekend. Given that Sunday is suppose to a fantastic day of thunderstorms and rain, I think the traditional household chores will have to wait till tomorrow. This

Cape Cod Search Engine Optimization
It took about 3 months or so, but Google has finally decided that “Cape Cod SEO” (or SEO perhaps) should finally have something to do with “Cape Cod Search Engine Optimization“. As recently as last week, CapeCodSEO.com languished as low as the 9th page in search results for “Cape Cod Search Engine Optimization”, while maintaining a top position for “Cape Cod SEO” since early March. Unfortunately, I’m getting very little love for “Cape Cod” but that should be expected.

Here’s an interesting Google glitch: I currently see Cape Cod Living, (a popular blog here on Cape) at the bottom of page 19 and then at the bottom of every page of search results up to page 44 (where Cape Cod SEO currently resides)! If Google would get there act together, maybe I could breeze up to page 41 or 42 (sarcasm intended).

Cape Cod SEO Design
While I’ve been happy with the “The Island After Sunset Theme” by Cureless for my blog design, I think I’ve finally come up with a new layout (based on an older site I created) for this blog’s look and feel. Time permitting, I may be able to get that up in a week or so.

Cape Cod Chowder Festival
The only drawback to not getting things done today is that we may miss the annual Cape Cod Chowder Festival tomorrow, which I would really like to attend. The only thing better may be the “Rock’n Ribfest in southern NH this weekend (assuming you like “dead animals, drenched in sauce” as my friend in Kansas City, MO so eloquently has detailed). A friend at KoMarketing is attending the festival and alerted me to it’s presence.

Incidentally, The Rock ‘n Ribfest is a great example of an absolutely horrible onpage SEO strategy (or lack thereof) that must achieve their keyword rankings based on links and offline promotion (quick keywords: “rib fest nh” and “rib festival new hampshire”). Do you still think that link building is not that important?

Cape Cod Baseball
The Orleans Cardinals are off to a 4-3 start (good for 2nd in their division) and play tonight (in Orleans) against the 1st place Bourne Braves. It looks like we need Gaston’s bat to heat up but Mark Sobolewski and Dennis Raben have been great thus far. The Cardinals bullpen has gone 16 innings and four games without allowing a run and they’re going for their third straight shutout.

Finally, I just picked up Vlad Guerrero for my fantasy team! If Julio Lugo could ever get his hitting together, maybe I could regain first place in my league.
