Old Fashioned Tastes – The Cottage Street Bakery in Orleans
Walking into the Cottage Street Bakery, in Orleans, you are greeted by the distinctive smells of a wonderful bakery and the aroma of fresh coffee. The Cottage Street Bakery is located on a small side street (Cottage Street) just off of the main connector back onto Route 28 in Orleans, from Nauset Beach. If you aren’t looking for it, you may miss it. It’s also a small place, so get there early on a summer weekend if you want the best selection of pastry items to choose from.
Buca’s Tuscan Roadhouse in Harwich
We had the pleasure of going to Buca’s Tuscan Roadhouse on Saturday evening and had a great experience. Buca’s is located in the town of Harwich and is easy to get to from Route 39 or 28, depending on the direction you are coming from. We made a reservation that day and upon entering the restaurant, were greeted warmly and were offered an excellent seat by the fireplace. I should point out that our initial table was set to be near the door, which was a bit drafty in the middle of February, but the restaurant staff went out of their way to make sure we got seated in a better place (possibly the best place) once another party left.

Orleans is located in southeastern Massachusetts, at the elbow of Cape Cod. Bordered by the town of Eastham on the north, the Atlantic Ocean on the east, the towns of Chatham and Harwich on the south, and the town of Brewster and Cape Cod Bay on the west. Orleans is about 22 miles from Hyannis; 88 miles southeast of Boston; 93 miles east of Providence, Rhode Island; and 270 miles from New York City.
